Megatron Costumes - Great For the Young and Old!

Megatron, the power hungry leader of the baddies, Decepticon, first made his debut in the year 1984. Created by Hasbro and Takara as one of the characters of the Transformers toy line, he became part of the televised series and the Marvel Comics, Transformers. Leading the Decepticons with the sole aim of conquering and ruling over the entire Universe, he is almost every time confronted by the leader of the autobots and his prime antagonist, Optimus Prime, who does everything to thwart the attempts of Megatron. He is also known as the "Slag-Maker".

Megatron's most powerful weapon is his Fusion Cannon which can produce an immense amount of nuclear energy through a very small quantity of matter. Megatron can also use his internal circuits in such a manner that the cannon is inter-dimensionally connected with a black hole to use anti-matter as a source of power, However, this can cause quite a strain on Megatron. His alternative weapon for vanquishing rebels and enemies is the energon mace.

Though there have been several loyal fans of Transformers and Megatron owing to its toys and comics line, there has been a revival of sudden interest among children and adults owing to the release of the movie, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen at the end of June 2009. Hence, the growing demand and popularity for Transformers costumes, especially that of Megatron.

Much like the transformation of the Transformers from toys and cartoon to the big screen, there have been several versions of the costumes itself. It was difficult to achieve a realistic Megatron effect with costumes fashioned on the Megatron character in the cartoon series. Building Megatron with a lot of cardboards not only made the costume bulky but difficult to pack it or actually wear it. However, the Internet reveals there have been some die-hard Megatron fans who have tried to recreate the look of their favorite villain character with some serious investment of time and effort. Today, getting into the skin of Megatron is not so cumbersome or time and effort intensive. Megatron costumes are more stylishly designed, easily shipped and easily worn. Most costumes come as a grey jumpsuit and a plastic mask and are available for both children and adults.

The storyline of Megatron character had pretty much ended in US comics when Megatron confronted Optimus Prime and forced him to send the Ark hurtling towards Earth. But the UK comics revived the Megatron character by bringing in more twists to the comic's storyline which included the meeting of the futuristic version of Megatron with the present Megatron. The Japanese comics added some more complications to the story which involved the transformation of Megatron in Galvatron and the use of several Megatron clones to defeat the army of Autobots. The Japanese storyline even involved the battle of Autobots and Galvatron against a hybrid of the two arch enemies, Optimus Prime and Megatron called the Guiltor. It is not hard to understand why Megatron is constantly revived in some form or the other - his strategy, intelligence and power has won several hearts despite his villainy.
